Before lock

Two questions to answer
  • Brooks — questionable. If he sits, M. Washington Jr. is the Carolina fallback already on your bench.
  • Nabers — questionable. If he sits, Downs or Johnston fills the flex.
  • Everything else starts as drafted.

The matchup

Projected 109.10 – 105.54
  • He starts K. Walker III and J. Warren at back, Jefferson and G. Wilson at receiver.
  • Kittle is questionable in his flex. Pacheco on IR.
  • Josh Jacobs sits on his bench — he has RB depth he is not using.

Send before Sunday — his flex looks fine once it scores

1Play Clock Austin

Team 9 · Austin Bowley · the perfect counterparty
  • Seven backs: Jeanty, Breece Hall, Skattebo, Dobbins, Croskey-Merritt, Coleman, Allen.
  • Three receivers total. Both flex slots are backs because he has nobody else to put there.
  • He is starting Jaxson Dart at quarterback.
  • Open at: Downs + Goff for Breece Hall.
  • Settle at: Downs + Johnston + Goff for Skattebo.
  • Goff is the lever, not the receivers. Keep him in every version.

Austin — you're starting two RBs in your flex because you don't have receivers to put there, and Dart at QB in a half-PPR league is a hole you don't need to have.

I've got the opposite problem. Seven WRs, three RBs.

Proposal: Josh Downs + Jared Goff for Breece Hall.

You get a real WR3 who plays every snap in the slot, and Goff — who'd start for six other teams in this league — instead of a rookie. You still roll out Jeanty, Skattebo, Dobbins, Croskey-Merritt, Coleman, Allen. You're not thin at RB after this. You're just not wasting the depth.

Tell me if you want Johnston in there instead of Downs, or both.

2Children of Athena

Team 6 · projected 2-12-0 · will sell
  • Backs: Bijan, Bucky Irving, Aaron Jones Sr., Monangai, Sampson.
  • Receivers are thin — McLaurin, DJ Moore, Shaheed, Tucker, Wan'Dale.
  • The ask: Bucky Irving for Downs + Johnston. Or Aaron Jones for Johnston straight.
  • Wait for 0-3. A losing start is what makes this cheap.

3Thin Lizzy Rulez

Team 12 · low probability · skip
  • Has Jonathan Taylor, Javonte, Pollard, Spears.
  • Also deep at receiver — Pickens, McMillan, Reed, Godwin, Deebo, Shakir.
  • No need for your surplus. Revisit only if he loses a back.

8Defense Wins Chips
Jacob Coover
13-1Yahoo's number one. Daniels / Gibbs + Montgomery / London + Rice. No obvious hole. Last year's runner-up.
4I Got A Plan John11-3Deepest receiver corps in the league. Carries two defenses — a wasted bench spot.
12Thin Lizzy Rulez10-4Hurts / Jonathan Taylor. Real team, no leverage over him.
1BIG BOOTY BALLERS · commish—McCaffrey + Hampton. Aging at back.
2Parma John—Bills stack. Allen / Cook / A.J. Brown.
3Playmaker Chase—Four Q tags in the starting lineup. Volatile — will panic-trade.
5T-Bone WOOF! Week 1105.54Your opponent. Jacobs rotting on his bench.
6Children of Athena2-12Projected last. Your cheapest source of a back.
7Diddy Da Snack Man!—Achane + Waddle / Higgins. Balanced.
9Play Clock Austin target—Seven backs, three receivers, Dart at QB. Trade partner number one.
10EMACHINE you5-9Most receivers, fewest backs. Fixable by trade, not by waiver.
11Auto Draft Kings—Three QBs and Bowers on the bench while starting MarShawn Lloyd. Will deal.

Holes to exploit

Later in the year

Auto Draft Kings

Team 11 · hoarding
  • Carrying three quarterbacks — Herbert, Purdy, Kyler.
  • Brock Bowers on the bench.
  • Starting MarShawn Lloyd at RB2.
  • Play: offer back help, ask for Bowers.

I Got A Plan John

Team 4 · wasting a slot
  • Rosters two defenses — Lions and Texans.
  • One dead bench spot all season.
  • Play: nothing yet. Note it for a bye-week squeeze.

Playmaker Chase

Team 3 · fragile
  • Four Q tags in the starting lineup.
  • Two bad weeks and he sells.
  • Play: check in after Week 3.

The whole league

Untouched
  • Every team still holds the full $100 FAAB.
  • Nobody has spent a dollar.
  • The first waiver war sets the market for the rest of the year.

The money

FAAB

$100 each · nothing spent
  • Do not bid blind on the first Tuesday. Whatever wins the first claim becomes the price of everything after it.
  • Your only real need is a back. Save for a starter who loses his starter.
  • Handcuffs to watch: whoever backs up the injured, not the leftover names.

Week 13

Five players out at once

Fix by Week 10
  • On bye together: Tyler Warren, Josh Downs, M. Washington Jr., A. Mitchell, Raiders DEF.
  • Week 13 is the last week before playoff seeding hardens.
  • Second bye problem: Brooks and Hubbard both sit in Week 5.
  • Any trade that sends Downs out fixes part of this by itself.
